Import & Customs Clearance Consulting

We prepare the shipment before you pay the supplier, review imported goods before customs does, and support you through post-audits, additional assessments and penalties.

01 /

Services

Three services of the practice: Pre-shipment — before import, Post-shipment — after import, Post-audit — in dispute.

01

Pre-shipment

  • Review of the contract and supplier documents before payment
  • TN VED codes with written reasoning
  • Calculation of customs duties and VAT
  • Permits and certification map
  • Review of delivery terms (Incoterms) and price structure

The shipment is ready: codes are reasoned, payments calculated, documents in order before the goods leave.

02

Post-shipment

  • Review of past shipments: codes, customs value, origin, payments
  • Finding the discrepancies customs will find in post-clearance control
  • Assessment of additional-charge and penalty risk
  • A plan to fix errors before the inspection

Errors are fixed before customs finds them — the risk of assessments and penalties is reduced.

03

Post-audit

  • Support during customs post-audits
  • Challenging additional assessments, penalties and interest
  • Customs-violation cases
  • Appeals before customs authorities and courts

The position is grounded in documents and practice — support in administrative and judicial proceedings.

How we work

  1. Initial review — we examine the contract, invoices, payment and declaration documents; we identify risks on the HS code, customs value and origin of goods.Outcome: a risk map and scope of work.
  2. Proposal & contract — before work begins we state the stage scope and fixed price: preparation, review or audit support; the terms are fixed by contract.Outcome: an estimate and a signed contract.
  3. Execution — we prepare written positions on codes, value and origin; we send requests and motions and negotiate with customs authorities.Outcome: a documented legal position.
  4. Result — a shipment ready for clearance, eliminated risks, or reasoned support in an assessment dispute.Outcome: a result fixed in documents.

FAQ

Are you a customs broker?

No. We are a law firm: we check documents, calculate payments, substantiate positions and support you in disputes. Your declarant or broker files the declaration — we verify their work.

When should we involve you in a shipment?

Before you pay the supplier and before dispatch: at that stage the contract, codes and documents can still be corrected without consequences.

Our cargo is held at the border — can you help?

No. We do not handle release of detained shipments or disputes at the declaration stage. Our focus is pre-import preparation and post-clearance control.

What does a consultation cost?

The initial review is short and fixed-price. Stage pricing is stated upfront and depends on document volume and complexity.

Disclaimer. Our conclusions and consultations are issued solely on the basis of documents you provide, are strictly advisory, and do not guarantee decisions of state authorities or courts. We accept no liability for consequences of decisions made on the basis of our recommendations.
